Bhavnagar — coastal gateway to Palitana & Velavadar
A seaside princely town best used as a launchpad to two exceptional places: the holy Jain hill of Shatrunjaya (Palitana) and the blackbuck sanctuary of Velavadar.

Palitana, Velavadar, and a quiet temple hill
Shatrunjaya Hill at Palitana is the holiest Jain pilgrimage on Earth. Around 3,500 white marble & granite temples crown the hill — an overwhelming architectural and spiritual landscape. Plan to start climbing around 4 am to reach the top by sunrise; carry water and modest dress.
Velavadar Blackbuck National Park — 35 km² of flat grassland, home to over 2,000 blackbuck, the largest Indian antelope. They run in herds so you'll easily see 50-on-the-hop during a single drive. Pass also sees hyenas, jackals and the Four-horned antelope.
Within Bhavnagar itself: the small hilltop Takhteshwar Temple gives a beautiful evening view over the city and Alang bay.
